>>Personalized Medicine
Wednesday, January 27, 6:00-8:00pm. Ranee Taylor, Ph.D.
In current medical practice, cancer diagnosis and treatment sometimes is a matter of trial and error. Many drugs prescribed in the United States are effective for the majority of treated patients but may not be effective for a significant minority of treated patients. This is not because of shortcomings of the drugs but rather because each of us is biologically unique. Personalized medicine examines the role a person's genetic make-up plays in disease and treatment effectiveness. Join Ranee Taylor, Ph.D. and learn about new tools used to help match chemotherapy of drug treatments to your individual genetic variations. These tools can help differentiate between subtypes of diseases to direct the right treatment to the right patient. New developments in medicine and technology can help take the guesswork out of medicine and make healthcare decisions more precise and effective, often at a lower cost. Come learn about new treatments and technology in the fight against cancer. Please RSVP to 865-546-4661.
